If you’re new here then hello! It’s great to meet you and my name is JoAnn. I work full time in a tech focused job and in my free time I love diving into books, journals, and just getting in a good old fashion workout. It really help clear my head! Over the years I have been asked time and time again what sort of workouts I’m doing, books I’m reading, and meal preps I’m cooking in order to maintain some sort of work/life balance. I will be the first to tell you that perfection is impossible to achieve, but if any of my shared experience can help others at all, I am happy to share it.
So what will this substack include?
Once a month you can expect what my current workout split is, recipes I have enjoyed and probably some other activities I’ve done that month in order to keep sane (hobbies, snacks, book recs, etc.).
So if you are looking for a bit of inspiration to your monthly routine this is the place for you!
A little about me…
I am a woman in my mid 30s trying to figure out the best way to maintain my mental and physical health. I have been working professionally in the film industry for about 15 years now (mostly behind the camera) in various roles as I hustled to pay my bills. Born and raised in southern California to a bi-racial family, I’m based in Los Angeles and currently share my home with a very opinionated rescue pittie named Boba.
In my spare time I have always loved playing sports and working out, most recently I have competed a handful of times in NPC bodybuilding competitions. I have absolutely loved and appreciated my body in many shapes and sizes and have just learned to embrace who I am and where I am at. Look, we are all are fighting our own battles and there will never be enough time in the day. No one can always eat perfectly nutritionally balanced meals, nor should they, but hopefully some of the content I share here can help inspire a bit more positive action for others.
So excited! Can’t wait for the first drop.
